Privacy and data handling

UnderstandMe is being built to stay clear about what is stored now, what is not stored yet, and what would need a separate opt-in later.

App data during the current beta

UnderstandMe stores beta app data on Cloudflare for all beta users so check-ins, medication history, optional cycle summaries, app settings, reminder preferences, and product learning are based on real usage from the current beta.

Sign in with Apple

Sign in with Apple is optional. It adds an Apple-linked identity to the beta account on this device and can help with backup, restore, and beta follow-up, but it is not required for cloud-backed beta collection.

Apple Health

If Apple Health is enabled, UnderstandMe may store daily summaries for sleep, exercise minutes, steps, active energy, resting heart rate, HRV, and optional cycle context. Raw HealthKit samples are not stored.

If cycle tracking is enabled, UnderstandMe may read day-level cycle summaries from Apple Health. UnderstandMe only writes cycle logs back to Apple Health if the user explicitly turns that option on.

Waitlist data from this website

When you join the waitlist, your submission is written to a Cloudflare D1 database used by the UnderstandMe site. That includes your email, optional first name, optional region, your note about what you want help with, your consent choice, request country, and user agent.

How beta data is used

Synced app usage is reviewed through de-identified and aggregated admin views and exports. Those views do not show app-user email addresses, raw user identifiers, Apple identifiers, notes, or typed free-text entries.

Counts and patterns may be used to improve the app, including the way patterns are explained, which signals matter most, and how the product evolves.

Product boundaries

UnderstandMe is a personal reflection and pattern-tracking tool. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, therapy, or an emergency service.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number or use an appropriate crisis support service.

Deleting app data

The beta app includes Settings actions to export data, erase local data from the device, or erase local and synced cloud data. For support or privacy questions, contact support@understandme.app.
